Company ProfileJ&S Records was originally founded by Jay Doucet and Stuart Fontenot both of Ville
Platte, Louisiana. Both Jay and Stuart worked in the music industry long before the
inception of the J&S label.
Jay had been producing and engineering records for other record labels such as:
Jin, Maison De Soul, Bad Weather Records, Swallow, Zydeco Hound, Blue World
Records, etc.
Stuart had been working for Ville Platte Record Manufacturing as a Graphics
Designer and consultant to Floyd Soileau. In 1994, the Pressing Plant was
destroyed by a fire. A new plant was rebuilt and reopened as Ville Platte Tape
and Disc. Shortly after, Stuart bought the business from Floyd Soileau and
renamed it "ACCUPRESS".
In January of 1999, Jay and Stuart had an idea to produce records for their own
label. And they did just that.
February of 1999, Jay and Stu did their first recording on the the super-group
"The Creole Zydeco Farmers" which turned out to be a great first record for the duo
and yielded their first hit called "hole in the wall".
They then went on to record other famed groups such as: the reunion album
of Zydeco Force, Brad Randall, Sean Vidrine and Swampfyre, and Donna Angelle.
In 2001 Stuart got so busy with Accupress (making millions!) that he decided to
leave J&S and dedicate all of his time and energy to Accupress, his wife (Emily), and
their 3 kids. His presence and contributions to the J&S label will be greatly missed!
However, he will continue to offer his talents, Cd cover designs, and creative ideas for
all of the future J&S projects and releases. So its like he is still with us after all.
Jay has since recorded a new Creole Zydeco Farmer Record for the year 2001 and
it is soon to be released to the public.
Jay Doucet has worked as a Songwriter, Engineer, & Producer for over 13 years.
